All of those that dedicate their time and expertise to this important and worthwhile community campaign do so as volunteers. Without their support we would have no chance to make the difference to the lives of those in our community that are affected by Dementia.

Who we are…

Dementia Friendly St Andrews is a not for profit organisation created by a team of volunteers who have a shared vision to improve the facilities and lives of individuals living with dementia and those who care for them in and around our beautiful and historic home of St Andrews. As a group of volunteers we are committed to raising the funds required to help provide much needed education and awareness for understanding the needs of those with dementia. This includes working together with schools, community groups, businesses and public sector workers, amongst others.

Our fundraising activities are varied and often need the help of local people to both organise and administer. We also approach businesses both local and international for assistance and sponsorship, as well as Council groups and Lottery funds for grants and assistance.

This is just the start, we are ambitious and motivated and with the support of the local community feel that we will make a significant difference to the lives of those living with dementia in the area.

Over the coming weeks we will be organising a full committee of like-minded people from our community that have a passion to bring about change and make St Andrews a Dementia Friendly Community. We hope this committee will include representatives from the NHS, Police & Fire services, Schools and also people who are living with dementia and their carers. If you think you might be able to help please contact Dr Maggie Ellis via this website.
